South Asian Bar Association of Washington ("SABAW") is a 501(c)(3) organization of South Asian legal professionals in Washington State dedicated to providing access to legal resources and support for issues relevant to the South Asian community. SABAW is also committed to identifying and advancing the areas where economic, social and political interests intersect with South Asian legal issues, and we work to provide opportunities for law students in Washington to get involved in these areas alongside us. SABAW serves as a liaison between South Asian legal professionals and the legal community at large. We strive to provide our members with education, opportunities to expand their personal networks and resources, and a platform for community outreach and involvement. We are an active branch of the North American South Asian Bar Association. With help from our membership, SABAW has continually expanded our community outreach and enhanced opportunities for law students and young lawyers through legal clinics, scholarships and fellowships.

    Scholarship Application Deadline Extended to Sept 30th, 2024! The South Asian Bar Association of Washington is extending the deadline for the annual scholarships for law students and recent law graduates. SABAW thanks all applicants who have diligently submitted their applications by the deadline.?SABAW will continue to accept applications for the three scholarships until September 30, 2024. For details on various scholarships offered, please see here: https://lnkd.in/gdeqJrGB All applicants must be current law students (inclusive of entering 1Ls or LLMs) or recent graduates (class of 2024).?Applications are due by 5pm on Monday, September 30, 2024. Please email your résumé (or an updated LinkedIn profile link) and a cover letter (one page or less) addressed to the Scholarship Committee Chair, Amrita Srivastava at the official SABAW email [email protected]. In your cover letter, please (1) note which scholarship you are applying for, (2) share your leadership experience within the South Asian community, (3) let us know your future plans to continue to engage with and serve the South Asian community, (4) note your current grade point average, and (5) disclose any other scholarships, awards, or other financial support you are currently receiving from SABA or other organizations.
