    The City of Poulsbo Tourism Grant is funded by lodging tax funds. The City is working on ways to strengthen our visitors for the day and overnight visitors, with the goal of positioning Poulsbo as one of the premier shopping, dining, history and waterfront views in the Puget Sound region; this tax helps to build a strong visitor economy! The City accepts proposals from various groups and organizations for use of the 4% lodging tax for projects related to the cost of tourism promotion, acquisition of tourism-related facilities, or operation of tourism-related events and facilities.     The new YMCA Express at Marina Square Bremerton will occupy the stunning retail space on the 4th floor with panoramic waterfront views overlooking the boardwalk, Sinclair Inlet, and Bremerton Marina. Marina Square is the perfect location in downtown Bremerton for the YMCA, being just a block away from the ferry terminal and a short walk from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS). Guests can conveniently enter the facility through Cary Bozeman Place, a waterfront public plaza nestled between our two towers celebrating Cary Bozeman's impact in rejuvenating the downtown and waterfront area.     Sound West Group and the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is excited to announce that we are opening a brand-new YMCA Express at Marina Square Bremerton. The facility will offer state-of-the-art strength training and cardio equipment and will utilize nearby outdoor spaces for seasonal group classes. Residents of the Marina Square apartment community and other individuals who live or work nearby in downtown Bremerton will have a space to improve their physical fitness and become part of the bustling YMCA community. Individuals who become members at this location will also have access to the nearby Bremerton Family YMCA, which offers expanded programming such as daily group exercise classes and an Olympic-size pool. The YMCA facility at Marina Square will have sweeping waterfront and boardwalk views and is located near the ferry and walking distance to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and the new Quincy Jones Square.     As remote work reshapes the way people live and travel around cities, Americans are taking to the waterways not only as part of their commute but also as part of their daily lives. The New York Times article covers the "ferry boom" as many of the country's largest cities look to water transport to ease traffic, connect communities and meet housing and commercial development goals. In Bremerton, the ferry and the nearby Marina Square apartment complex are part of a third wave of waterfront development. The area’s population has increased 6 percent since 2020, driven in part by Seattle’s high housing costs. (The average rent for a one-bedroom apartment is $1,997 in Seattle and $1,447 in Bremerton, according to Apartments.com.) Marina Square has 270 apartments, a waterfront park, a restaurant and a market; a Y.M.C.A. is also planned. The complex includes studios and furnished, extendedstay suites for workers at Naval Base Kitsap, the region’s largest employer, four blocks away.
