Exciting news for Redmond! A new public artwork by artist Yeggy Michael titled “Point of Connection” has been installed at Marymoor Village Station! This vibrant piece blends Redmond’s past, present, and future, symbolizing the city’s evolution from a trade hub to a center of innovation. The artwork features powerful symbols like the Sankofa bird, Afro comb, and mandala, representing community, unity, and resilience. Though the station won't open until 2025, “Point of Connection” already sets the stage for a space that celebrates connection and growth. Last week, Sound Transit came together for a dual celebration of the vibrant traditions of Diwali and Día de los Muertos. It was a beautiful fusion of cultures filled with food, music, and camaraderie. As the Ruth Fisher Boardroom was illuminated with the warmth of diyas and the glow of candles, themes of light, remembrance, and connection were honored. Through shared stories and delicious treats, we celebrated the joy of life and the cherished memories of our loved ones. A heartfelt thank you to our SPAM and LIT employee resource groups for creating this meaningful event. Together, we’re weaving a richer tapestry of understanding, respect, and unity.
