Fully remote!!!! LinkedIn family, my last post placed over 250 people! THANK YOU and I need you again!!!! Please share if you can as we still need more people to help support the recent disasters! Due to the recent hurricane FEMA will need to provide 500 bilingual call center representatives for fully remote positions. The call center runs 7 days per week, and there are shifts that cover west coast to east coast, from 6:30am to midnight.?We will supply the laptop you will need to do the work, as well as training! The positions pay $21.77 total per hour ($17.20 federal base wage + $4.57 per hour for health and welfare).??These are full time roles, 40-hours per week.?You must be bilingual (Spanish/English), a US citizen, and able to pass a background check (criminal and credit). Note - there are no part time roles and you unfortunately cannot pick your schedule so full flexibility is required. Please email your resume to [email protected].

    First California Surgeon General

“If you don’t diagnose it, you can’t treat it.” - Kamala Harris Regardless of political affiliation, we need leaders who understand and are committed to addressing childhood trauma as a public health issue. Early detection and early intervention are CRITICAL for improving outcomes for our kids. While we can’t rewrite the past, we can use it to inform us on how to move forward. That’s what screening for ACEs does. It gives us, as providers, the opportunity to understand how our patient’s experiences in the past might affect the functioning of their biology in the present. ACE screening helps assess the likelihood that the toxic stress response may be contributing to a patient’s chronic medical, behavioral or mental health conditions. The toxic stress response is TREATABLE. Screening for the RISK of toxic stress is just the first step. To watch the full podcast: https://lnkd.in/gBAuBzEC

    First California Surgeon General

A decade ago, I spoke on the 2014 TedMed stage about how childhood trauma affects health across a lifetime. To this day, it still thrills me when I meet people who say that’s how they first learned about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and toxic stress and that it was their lightbulb moment — the moment they began to understand the “why” behind some of the challenges they faced. My hope for that TedTalk was to arm people with the knowledge to transform the way we respond to ACEs and toxic stress. This past decade has been a whirlwind. I’ve met with local and global leaders, been shouting from the rooftops - on podcasts, (I was even interviewed by OPRAH!!!), and so much more. During my time as California’s Surgeon General we launched a first-in-the nation effort which not only trained over 40,000 healthcare providers on how to screen patients for ACEs and respond with evidence-based, trauma-informed care, but PAID them for their time and expertise to do it. The ACEs Equity Act expanded coverage beyond Medi-Cal to private insurers. That means more Californians are eligible for ACEs screenings and more health care providers are being trained to screen for ACEs. People are WAKING UP! If you’ve been following my journey for a while, thank you so much for your support. If you’re just joining, welcome! I’m so excited to be on this journey with all of you. We CAN heal ourselves, heal our families, heal our communities and cut ACEs by half in one generation. California serves as a model, but we still have work to do! We can’t take an every family or every community for themselves approach to ACEs. It’s time to transform our SYSTEMS to help our children, families and communities heal! More to come!

So what do you do? You want your kids to know right from wrong. They need to. You desperately don't want them to grow up being kids who struggle because their behavior renders them outcasts. At the same time, you don't want to go overboard. You want to let them be kids - let them grow, make some mistakes, figure out the world around them. Here's where our next move matters. The most important relationships in children's lives when they are young is those with their parents. Mom and Dad are giants. If I am a kid who feels I am constantly being called out for doing things wrong and/or doing the wrong things, as a child, I might want to spend less time in that space and more time around people who make me feel like I matter a little bit. As a parent, it's a moment to question, "What's my biggest issue here?" "Is it her behavior, or is it something else?" "Why AM I always correcting? Questioning? Punishing?" Time to do some deep work. Sure, kids do what they do. But why? Where does it come from? Is it something that I as a parent might be encouraging? Or modeling? There might be just a few small adjustments we can make that can shift things. Let's avoid the extremes. Let's do the work necessary so they'll always know we have their backs. #discipline #soulfireparenting #angermanagement #secureattachment #lovelanguage #dadlife #parentingtips #parentinghacks

For many parents, it becomes easy to expect children to always "know better" and avoid doing things they've been told over and over again not to do. The reality is that as parents, we get stuff wrong, too! We have moments when we screw up, forget, choose wrong, and disregard things that matter. When our emotions are the source of our screw ups, things can get really complicated. Today, practice balance. Catch the moment you want to act out of frustration, irritation or anger and steer in the opposite direction. Work on re-centering your energy so that you avoid saying or doing something you can't walk back. Yes, it's a conscious decision, and those moments can be the hardest to get right. If we do, we minimize damage... which is good. We also model what it looks like when we get it right. That is AWESOME. #soulfireparenting #parenting #angermanagement #dadlife #momlife #parentingtips #emotionalintelligence #parentcoaching
