Keller Keynotes happening tonight! ?? "The End Times Are a Changin' : A Socio-Multimedia concert event featuring the music of Derek Keller as realized by Colin McAllister and the Audience" ?? 7:30 - 8:30 PM, SOU Music Recital Hall The event is free and will also be livestreamed: https://lnkd.in/g96UVizY - Since 2017, Derek Keller has been composing a series of works entitled the Modular Music Project (MMP). MMP combines live performance, formal modularity, and mobile devices to create music and multimedia experiences that fall along the determinant–improvisational–aleatoric continuum. The movements, their components, and video media are modular: the musicians can play the movements and their sections/parts thereof in different arrangements; the video animations can be broadcast in different orders; the audience can navigate and play related media they retrieve from my website; and all the pieces have varying degrees of improvisation. These four elements are emphasized in variable degrees simultaneously in live performance. The works in MMP thus function in a variety of ways. They are concert hall pieces, which sometimes feel like participatory art installations, or as (not-so) silent films with live accompaniment. To address the socio-political challenges of our moment, Keller seeks to create ‘living’ multimedia works in which the members of the audience are participants. The End Times Are a Changin': Fantasy on Theme by Dylan (2018) is one of the works in MMP and the Audience is pivotal in its realization anew every time it is performed.
