These are my thoughts I shared at the Sustainability Summit organized by the City of Tempe: Let’s explore what sustainability truly means on a higher level. In my view, sustainability is when processes can theoretically repeat themselves infinitely. Let’s look to nature and let’s look to the natural processes that have been happening around us for millions of years. For example, we can look at the water cycle. Water evaporates from the ocean and land, rises up, forms clouds, and then falls back as rain, bringing essential resources to sustain all life on Earth. This process can continue infinitely. My vision for sustainability is similar. I suggest we look to natural processes that have proven their sustainability over millions of years. It’s clear that if we engage in activities that disrupt the balance of these cycles, they cannot continue indefinitely. Sooner or later, this will have consequences. By disrupting one system, we directly or indirectly affect other systems and their cycles. I believe that each of us should ask ourselves one simple question: Can my activities and processes repeat themselves endlessly? If the answer is no, we need to make adjustments. At SorbiForce, we base our work on fundamental natural processes. Moreover, we go a step further—we create processes that not only avoid harming the environment but actually improve it. This is where we see a revolution, a new vision, a new path, a new civilization, and a new way of relationship with our planet.
