We are honored to announce the latest addition to the Sophic Team, Dr. Reginald B. O’Hara! ? Dr. O’Hara joins us as our Director of Applied Health and Performance. He is a distinguished research scientist and expert in human performance, with extensive experience in physiology, biomedical research, and applied performance optimization. He previously served as Clinical Associate Professor and Chief Scientist at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he led innovative research initiatives focused on human performance, military rehabilitation, and physiological resilience. ? Dr. O’Hara holds a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology and Master’s degrees in Biological Sciences and Exercise Physiology. His career includes critical roles in military and defense research, such as Chief of Biochemistry Services at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Director of the Military Performance Laboratory at the Center for the Intrepid at Brooke Army Medical Center, and Research Scientist at the Air Force Research Laboratory. ? He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design with a focus on Space Architecture and Bioastronautics from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. His career spans influential roles at NASA, Leidos/Dynetics, and Sierra Space, where he contributed to the design of habitats for Lunar and LEO environments, Lunar Rovers, and conceptual infrastructure studies to support Lunar exploration. Throughout his career, Gabe has focused on grounding conceptual ideas in human-centered design, utilizing tools like physical mockups, simulators, and Virtual Reality to enhance usability and performance. ? Please join us in welcoming Kathryn Tharpe to the Sophic Team! ? Kathryn joins our team as a Senior Human Factors Specialist. She holds a Master of Public Health in Occupational Health and Safety degree from Texas A&M University’s School of Public Health. Her prior experience included working as an Ergonomist and Human Factors Specialist for The Boeing Company. She also provided human factors support to the ISS program in IVA sustainment and development and participated in proposal writing activities. ?
