In May 2022, our 11oz Premium Tahini and Chocolate Sea Salt Tahini hit the shelves nationwide at Whole Foods Market. We were fresh off a brand overhaul, stepping into a bold new era for Soom. Our Whole Foods national launch put us on the map and you can now find our tahini in over 4,500 doors nationwide, with Whole Foods continuing to be our top selling retailer. Nearly three years later, the momentum hasn’t slowed. Tahini is now the fastest growing subcategory in Nut Butters and Soom continues to be the #1 brand carrying our entire set forward. We introduced Soom to over 3,300 shoppers through in-store demos, and have proven that tahini belongs right alongside other nut and seed butters in the set. The success we’ve found at Whole Foods Market reinforces what we’ve always believed, tahini isn’t just a specialty ingredient anymore. With Valentine's Day around the corner (aka chocolate season!), we’ve been reflecting on the impact of our Dark Chocolate Sea Salt demos at Whole Foods Market from last spring. We had two big goals: 1?? Drive trial and introduce our product to new customers. 2?? Boost sales across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. Partnering with Attack!, we ran 40 demos, shared samples with over 2,400 customers, and saw incredible results: a 246% lift in sales across the store's we demoed at! ?? But what really stuck with us were the real-time customer reactions: ??? "I'm so glad I found your chocolate tahini—it's time for my kids to stop eating those other chocolate spreads!" ??? "This is definitely a healthier option! I also love that it helps me get more protein." ??? "I own a bakery and have to incorporate this into some of my recipes!" With this success, we’re excited to have demos in our tool belt moving forward, replicating the momentum in new regions and bringing Soom to even more customers.

When we got the news that our Snack Bites were heading to Whole Foods Market (!!), we knew our packaging had to make a splash. Inspired by insights from "Ramping Your Brand" by Dr. James Richardson, we focused on what attribute callouts would resonate most with our ideal consumer. This led to the creation of three small icons at the bottom the pouch, highlighting our Snack Bites as a sesame-seed superfood, perfect for on-the-go snacking, and packed with plant-based protein. We turned to SellCheck, Inc. to get feedback on our design to see what stood out and what needed work. Our key takeaway was to add a tessellation to tie the 3 flavors together when they are placed next to each other. (check out the other iterations from our designer, Jaclyn Sands!) The revamped design features a bold color block that flows seamlessly when lined up on the shelf. A visually striking lineup that catches the eye and brings all the flavors together!

This one feels different. Soom tahini hit Walmart shelves over the past few weeks! 989 stores, to be exact. Nestled between Justin’s, the most iconic nut butter brand of my generation, and Crazy Richard’s, my hands down favorite PB and probably my highest loyalty to a brand. Pinch me doesn’t even begin to describe. It’s been a long winding road on our mission to make Soom tahini a staple ingredient and trusted brand in the US Market. This sure as hell is a huge MFing step!! (Forgive my language)

A little over a year ago, Amy Zitelman listened to an episode of In The Sauce on the benefits of doing business with Walmart. "Daniel, we NEED to get into Walmart" is basically how the conversation went. One year later...we launched into 989 stores. So how did we do it? We partnered with the right team - the inimitable Hatchery Group. We invested in data (and more importantly, people who could interpret the data! hi Isobel Rubin). We shared our unique Soom Foods story. We were lucky enough to work with a category management team that understands that tahini is no longer meant to be on the side lines - tahini is core to driving incremental category growth in the nut butter set. And Soom Foods is leading the way. Congrats to the entire Soom Crew. This is a big one!

They're here! Soom Snack Bites have officially landed at Whole Foods Market in the Mid-Atlantic! ?? ?? PA, NJ, MD, VA, & DC - get ready for a sweet, simple snack that hits all the right notes! Made from real ingredients like dates, tahini, and oats, these plant-powered bites are soft, and chewy without any refined sugar, sugar alcohols, or preservatives. ?? You may notice they look a little different too! We gave the Snack Bites a bit of a refresh ? so they would stand out to shoppers on the shelf. A major thank you to Jaclyn Sands for re-envisioning this design with us. In anticipation of this store launch (and another coming soon ??), we revamped the store finder on our website using Dathic which allowed us to add SKU availability per store!
