Excited to share that the final piece of my PhD research has been published recently! In this work, we developed and demonstrated the longest monolithic flexible CMUT array reported to date. We also proved the feasibility of pulse-echo imaging with a flexible CMUT array while conforming to curved surfaces for the first time. This proof-of-concept opens the door to exciting possibilities such as large-area conformal sonography, though there's still much to be done—designing dedicated front-end electronics, enhancing transducer sensitivity, and developing tailored beamforming strategies. We would like to welcome Kassandra Hawes as Process Engineer at Sonus Microsystems. Kassandra is a recent graduate from The University of British Columbia at the Eng. Physics program, where she gained a breadth of knowledge in the fields of electrical, mechanical, and software?engineering. Their undergraduate experience varies from quantum optics to aerospace inflatables and is united by a passion to learn and grow. Along with her degree, Kassandra spent 5 years as the Payloads Team lead for UBC Rocket, designing and building?rocket payloads. Using these experiences coupled with coursework in microfabrication, Kassandra is excited to bring a unique view and skillset to the Sonus Microsystems team and its #polyCMUT technology.
