The New Private Markets Impact & Transition Investor Summit North America 2024 attracted a leading group of LPs, GPs and intermediaries focused on the transition to an environmentally sustainable and socially equitable world. The programming was thoughtful and provocative – debating whether the term “impact investing” is still fit-for-purpose, and diving into themes like circular economy, growing inequality, deep tech and the future of work. Our Head of Impact Engagement, Amanda Feldman, spoke on a plenary panel about operationalizing a 100% impact portfolio commitment. She brought a dose of optimism, outlining the range of opportunities that Sonen sees for foundations and family offices leaning into impact.

The Ship2B Foundation?Impact Forum was a vibrant gathering of the Spanish?#impactinvesting?and philanthropy ecosystem, bringing together best practice and inspiration to drive capital where it’s needed most. This year, the #Ship2BImpactForum focus was on finding real investable solutions?to?global challenges, to?understand?and?overcome the barriers to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and moving from talk to action.

Recently, Sonen’s Head of Research, Carolyn Ezelino?Ezelino?was a panelist at the USAID-led reception on Catalyzing Gender Equity in Climate Finance at #SOCAP24. It was an energizing event bringing together passionate advocates and thought leaders committed to advancing gender equity in climate action. Why prioritize women-led climate initiatives? As Anjani Harjeven?from?WomenHub?put it, “women are connectors…they can have exponential impact within their communities.” The UN reports that communities are more successful in resilience and capacity-building strategies when women are part of the planning process. Women-led solutions don’t just tackle environmental issues, they also address underlying social and economic inequalities, which can have lasting positive impacts on communities.?

Sonen’s Founding Partner, Raul Pomares, will join a panel discussion at the?Americas Partnership Investor Network?event in Miami next week. Launched this summer at the White House with a $1 billion pledge from investors, the network aims to underscore the importance of investing in Latin America and the Caribbean to drive regional competitiveness and sustainable development. Raul will bring his deep expertise to the conversation, addressing the opportunities and dispelling myths around investing in the region. He’ll discuss the need for increased asset owner engagement and spotlight emerging sectors poised for growth. With a long-term focus on economic stability, reducing inequality, and fostering innovation through entrepreneurship, the network is ready to catalyze meaningful impact across the region.
