We recently showcased the autonomous capabilities of the Plymouth Smart Sound Connect Subsurface project at an event hosted by Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML). ??? Teams from Sonardyne, University of Plymouth and ecoSUB Robotics delivered impressive live robotics demonstrations. We also highlighted the powerful data processing of our Origin 600 ADCP. Special thanks to Prof James Fishwick, Prof Alex Nimmo Smith, Iain Vincent, and the Heart of the South West LEP for supporting this exciting initiative. The future of ocean exploration is here. ???? https://lnkd.in/ebFXhFEZ #SmartSound #MarineResearch #DataInnovation

An offshore marine robotics testing ground, where operational data passes smoothly between assets on the seabed, in the water and the surface. A derisked zone for early in-water testing, where long term in-situ environmental observations can be used for proof-of-concept trialling before launch. Sounds futuristic doesn’t it? It’s happening now… Welcome to Smart Sound Connect Subsurface… Dive in to discover more! https://lnkd.in/eCZChNWx With thanks to Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML), University of Plymouth, City College Plymouth, Heart of the South West LEP, Sonardyne Trials and Training Centre ?

With the ocean covering over 70% of Earth's surface and only 5% explored, there is immense potential for new discoveries. Robotics platforms like ROVs and AUVs are crucial for safe, efficient, and minimal-impact exploration. Hear from Luke Richardson, VP of Sales & Marketing for Voyis, in his recent article exploring: ?? Navigating the depths - accurate navigation is critical. Sonardyne’s navigation systems ensure precise positioning, while Wavefront’s Vigilant Sonar and Voyis’ Discovery Vision Systems improve obstacle avoidance and local perception, enhancing mission safety and efficiency. ?? Communication challenges - effective communication with subsea platforms is vital. Sonardyne’s acoustic communication systems overcome the limitations of underwater data transfer, enabling reliable connections even at depths of up to 11km. This facilitates real-time data sharing and extensive exploration. ?? Mapping and monitoring - to understand and protect our oceans, detailed environmental sensing and mapping are essential. Wavefront’s sonar and Voyis’ high-resolution scanners work together to create comprehensive digital representations of underwater environments. This capability aids in climate research and the discovery of new species ?? Stronger together - our collaborative efforts were demonstrated in the historic discovery of Sir Ernest Shackleton's ship, Endurance. The combined expertise of Sonardyne, EIVA, and Voyis played a crucial role in this expedition, highlighting the strength of working together. At Covelya Group, we believe our collective innovation and expertise will drive the future of ocean exploration, leading to sustainable solutions and a deeper understanding of our planet’s last frontier.
