For International Women's Day, I had the pleasure of meeting Diana S. Navas-Rosette and hearing her incredible story as a fellow Latina immigrant growing up in Florida. Our conversation was one of those that stays with you—about the sacrifices our parents made, the resilience they passed down, and the unique challenges of being the only Latina and/or woman in so many rooms. It’s a feeling that’s all too familiar. But beyond the challenges, there’s also a responsibility—to create space, to open doors, and to drive change for those coming after us. Representation matters, and so does ACTION. Grateful for these moments of connection and for organizations like SOMOS.tech ?????? (We are tech) that make it happen. ??

International Women’s Day is more than a celebration, it’s a call to action. A reminder that progress happens because of the women who came before us, who pushed boundaries, broke barriers, and created opportunities for future generations. Today, I had the opportunity to join an International Women’s Day celebration hosted by SOMOS.tech ?????? (We are tech), Corporate Pero Latinos, SHPE Puget Sound Professional Chapter, and Latinas in Tech - Seattle. It was a powerful conversation about inclusive leadership, the power of community, and the responsibility we have to lift as we rise. I spoke about the leaders who saw potential in me before I saw it in myself, the ones who invested in my growth, challenged me with care, and reminded me that I belong. I shared reflections on what it truly means to show up authentically and to use our voices, even when it feels uncomfortable. As we celebrate the progress we’ve made, we also honor the work still ahead. To the women who paved the way: Thank you. Your resilience, leadership, and unwavering belief in what’s possible continue to light the path for us all. And to all of us moving forward together: Let’s keep building, keep challenging, and keep ensuring that the doors we walk through never close behind us. A heartfelt thank you to the organizers for the invitation to join, for creating community, and for the work you do every day to empower women in tech and beyond!
