April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This important awareness month was designated in 1983 and recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen families to prevent child abuse and neglect. As a part of this awareness, you will see Pinwheel Gardens popping up across your community this month. Since 2008, Pinwheels for Prevention gardens have been raising awareness and financial support for policies and programs that enable children, families, and communities to thrive. These gardens help show everyone the need for positive childhood experiences — and the groundswell of support for their role in preventing child abuse and neglect everywhere.
