?? I'm famous! ?? Okay not really, but... Yesterday I had the incredible (and I really do mean incredible) opportunity to speak on the main stage of the 2024 NACCE Annual Conference in Minneapolis Minnesota about my experience with SolveCC.? The conference is a recurring gathering of community college educators with entrepreneurial mindsets from across the country, and not somewhere I would normally picture myself attending much less presenting at.? The reason I was able to go is because of my involvement with SolveCC at Modesto Junior college, where my student led team won a series of challenges in which we identified a problem in our community and then proposed and implemented a solution.? We ended up winning first place, and since then have become more involved with the organization that hosted the challenges itself… so much so that they asked myself and several other students to present our experience with the SolveCC competition at NACCE.? It was amazing to be able to give back to an organization that’s been so instrumental in my life, and simultaneously have the opportunity to experience this event and network with so many incredible people. If you or a student you know are interested in participating in the next solveCC challenge (open to all students), myself and members of my company Visions to Visuals worked with SolveCC to put together this website where you can get involved: https://lnkd.in/g-V-nEqd Here’s my few minutes of fame on the conference’s main stage if you’re interested in watching!

?? The Power of People in Entrepreneurship ?? Just a few days ago, I had the privilege of stepping onto the main stage at the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) Annual Conference in Minneapolis. I spoke about a topic that’s often overlooked in college: the transformative power of people — especially when it comes to gaining valuable experience in today's world (I'm looking at all you CS students out there ??). So why was this conference so important? ?? This conference draws community college educators and leaders from all over the country, each devoted to fostering entrepreneurial education for their students. Standing on that stage was something I wouldn’t have imagined a few years ago, and I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to share my journey with SolveCC alongside my great friends Benjamin Schoolland, Kirill Kovalenko, Unk (Cody) Dowdell, and Tamia Newman. If you’re a student who wants to be part of the next SolveCC challenge, check out the website (made by Visions to Visuals) to bring your ideas into the future along with prizes and new opportunities: https://lnkd.in/gefPRB_g Here’s to the power of people and the incredible things we can achieve together! ??

Heidi Broker, a Scoot educator in Modesto, was a finalist for the Team Community Challenge sponsored by Modesto Junior College and Solve Community Challenges. As a result, Heidi and her team won $2,500! ?? Heidi has worked in a long-term role at Aspire University Charter School since January 2024. To support the school community, Heidi and her team donated $1,000 of the winnings to the Aspire Public Schools network. ???? Heidi also made a sizable donation to "It Takes a Village", a nonprofit in Modesto focused on supporting students who are unhoused. Heidi was inspired by students she supports at her school and we want to celebrate Heidi for giving back to her community! ???? #modestoteachers
