After 18 months away from the Superintendent's Office, it's official...I'm returning. I couldn't be more honored to have been named the next Superintendent of Fremont Unified School District, the third-largest district in the SF Bay Area with 33,000 students and 41+ schools. Fremont is a proud community with a history of high achievement and community support. I have big shoes to fill as Fremont's outstanding leader of four years, CJ Cammack, returns to his roots at San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Like most California school districts, Fremont faces many headwinds in the next 12-24 months. I look forward to partnering with their outstanding Board of Education, working hand in hand with the teachers, staff, leadership, students, parents, and community to address those challenges and build a strong foundation for the next generation of Fremont students and staff. To those with whom I have engaged as the Founder of Solutionary Advisors: our work continues. Hot off the press ?? On Tuesday, EL SEGUNDO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT's visionary #schoolboard adopted one of the nation's first School Board Policies addressing the use of #AI in #education. We at Solutionary Advisors are proud to have partnered with Superintendent Melissa Moore, her dedicated team, inspiring students, and thoughtful community to co-design this policy. ??♀? While the policies are sure to evolve as the technology evolves, ESUSD followed Superintendent Moore's lead when she said, ? "We're not going to sit on the sidelines and wait; we're going to roll up our sleeves and create customized policies that work for El Segundo staff and students, informed by the frameworks and guidance that exist." Getting to this point would not have been possible without the guidance of many leading organizations with whom ESUSD is closely partnered: ? Jean-Claude Brizard at Digital Promise, whose AI Literacy work is led by Chaula Gupta, Jeremy Roschelle, Pati Ruiz, Judi Fusco, and others. ? Erin Mote and the team at EDSAFE AI Alliance, who support 12 AI Policy Labs with their SAFE Framework to serve as models for the nation. ?
