Mark your calendars! Soldiers' Angels Day of the Deployed is Saturday, October 26! The holiday was started by Soldiers’ Angel volunteer Shelle Michaels Aberle. ?? Crafting Comfort for Veterans ?? Last week, 150 Navy Federal employees came together to create 250+ no-sew blankets for Soldiers' Angels! As we respond to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, these blankets will be sent to those most in need, including the Asheville VA, where many displaced Veterans seek refuge. ?? Heartwarming Support for a Newly Housed Veteran ?? Last Friday, the Soldiers' Angels team in Atlanta had the privilege of delivering a housing pack to a Veteran transitioning from homelessness. The pack included essential items like dishes, pots and pans, bedding, pillows, and so much more—everything she needs to start building a home after spending so much time without one. These essentials help make her transition smoother, providing the foundation to begin this new chapter of her life. When Veterans experiencing homelessness make it into HUD/VASH housing, they do so many times with few to no household items. Soldiers’ Angels developed the Homeless Veteran Housing Pack program to help meet the needs of newly housed (and chronically homeless) Veterans being treated at VA Medical Centers.
