We’re thrilled to partner with Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson to announce that PsiQuantum will anchor the new Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park and build the first US-based utility-scale quantum computer in Chicago, Illinois located at the historic US Steel South Works site. With support from the State of Illinois, Cook County Government, and the City of Chicago, we’re thrilled to join the Illinois’ quantum ecosystem, including Argonne National Laboratory & Fermilab national labs, leading universities including University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and University of Chicago, and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)’s newly announced Quantum Proving Ground Initiative which will also be based at the Quantum Park. In both Illinois and Australia, PsiQuantum has incredible partners who understand quantum computing's potential and the need to scale this technology. We’re grateful for this new partnership with Gov. Pritzker and the State of Illinois in support of our mission to build America’s first utility-scale quantum computer. https://lnkd.in/gx866XnQ

Building the world’s first useful quantum computer.
关于我们
Quantum computing will be a world-changing technology with the potential to unlock powerful advances in medicine, energy, finance and beyond. At PsiQuantum, we’re focused on building the world’s first useful quantum computer. A useful quantum computer requires at least 1,000,000 qubits and error correction.?We believe photonics is the only path to building a useful quantum computer. Our team at PsiQuantum is a mix of quantum physicists, semiconductor, systems, and software engineers, system architects and more. Error correction is at the centre of everything we do; and we focus on solving real-world problems. If you’re interested in joining our team, we are always open to hearing from exceptional people interested in working on one of the defining technologies of our lifetime.

As PsiQuantum’s operations and partnerships continue to grow in Queensland, we are excited to announce a new ‘Test & Characterization’ Lab in Brisbane at Griffith University’s Nathan campus. The lab, operated exclusively by PsiQuantum, will handle both cryogenic and room-temperature photonic quantum computing subsystems, ensuring high-performance integration and will open in early 2025. Griffith University Vice Chancellor and President, Professor Carolyn Evans, said: “We are excited about the partnership with PsiQuantum and the opportunities it will bring for more Queensland students to build future-focused STEM careers, while building on more than 20 years of leading research in quantum technology here at Griffith and across the state.” “We’re thrilled to partner with Griffith University to develop this new lab at Nathan Campus that will see a specialized team play a major role in the development of our first utility-scale systems.” said PsiQuantum Senior Director of Technical Partnerships, Professor Geoff Pryde, who is on leave from Griffith University As PsiQuantum scales from operating a small number of systems to implementing a large, modular machine, the ability to bring many subsystems to high-performance operation quickly and efficiently will become crucial. This lab will develop advanced processes to enable such operations. Its activities are expected to expand and eventually merge with the larger quantum computing facility in Brisbane. https://lnkd.in/gmSty7RD

It’s hard to cool something that’s already very cold. As we scale towards useful fault-tolerant quantum computers, the iconic “chandelier”-style cryostats often used in lab experiments are struggling with the increasing heat load associated with more complex chips and wiring. To address this, the team at PsiQuantum designed a simpler and more scalable fridge which will cool hundreds of chips to liquid helium temperature in a single cabinet. (?? Bye, chandelier!)

Let us introduce ourselves: WHO: PsiQuantum is a company whose sole mission is to build and deploy the world’s first scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computer. WHAT: We use a proprietary photonic approach to building a quantum computer, which we believe will enable us to build a large-scale quantum computer that can make real-world impact across industries like pharmaceuticals, sustainability, financial services, and more. HOW: Using photons allows us to build silicon photonic chips using existing manufacturing infrastructure (i.e. it’s faster to scale), and photons don’t feel heat, which means we can leverage existing cryoplant technology. We’re also able to use conventional optical fibers to connect our systems. WHERE: We have partnerships with government agencies in the US, UK, and Australia, and recently announced exciting plans to build our first quantum computer in Brisbane, followed by our first US-based quantum site in Chicago.

South Works, Chicago was home to one of America’s major steel production plants back in the last century. At its peak, South Works was producing a million tons of steel a year, shaping the face of the US through bridges, trains, cars, and city skylines.? Now, more than a century later, South Works once again becomes home to another critical industry that will revolutionize industry - quantum computing.?? The new Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP), where PsiQuantum will be building its first US-based utility-scale quantum computer, will bring together US national labs, top universities, and DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative in an unprecedented collaboration within the quantum computing space.? With a commitment to create at least 150 new local jobs and anchoring the IQMP, we’re excited to partner with the Chicago community to develop a technology that will have a lasting impact on Chicagoland and help begin to solve some of our most pressing challenges, from designing life-saving drugs faster to designing new energy solutions in the fight against climate change.?https://bit.ly/3LCtwce
