It was Christmas Eve, and the lights came back on for five hundred students in Haiti. ? Several months ago, SELF received an urgent plea. A K-12 residential school in Haiti needed a new solar battery bank, and their students’ safety depended on it.? Haiti continues to experience extreme violence and disorder. SELF's partner school provides a safe haven for its students and the local community. The school’s solar-electric system fills a vital need—powering lights, phone charging, and clean water access. ? The school’s principial says that the only reason her school has been spared from Haiti’s horrific violence is that they have had solar-powered lights, which act as a deterrent to crime. But when the system’s battery bank began to fail, the community’s safety was in jeopardy.?? But thanks to your generosity, the school now has a new battery bank. Students, staff, and community members can count on this life-saving power that you made possible.? From SELF and our partners in Haiti, we wholeheartedly thank you for shining a light for these kids!? ?? Dear Friends and Supporters, Warm greetings from Rape Hursts Foundation (RHF), based in Jinja, Eastern Uganda. As you may be aware, the recent closure of USAID programs, initiated by President Trump and the new US State Department policy, has had a profound impact on our organization. Grassroots organizations like Rape Hurts Foundation have been severely affected, as we relied heavily on this funding (approximately 85%) to provide timely emergency response services and support to victims of gender-based violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, modern-day slavery, and sex slavery. Currently, RHF is facing significant challenges in sustaining our operations, which provide critical care and support to 385 survivors. Closing our doors is not a viable option, as it would abandon these vulnerable individuals and leave them without essential services. In light of this, we urgently appeal to you to consider making a donation to RHF. Your contribution would play a vital role in enabling us to keep our shelters open and continue providing indispensable support to those who need it most. Your generosity would help us bridge the funding gap created by the USAID program closure. Every donation, no matter how small, counts significantly in our efforts to sustain our operations and ensure the continued well-being of the survivors under our care. Thank you for your time, consideration, and support during this challenging period. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by these heinous crimes. Thanks so much and have a wonderful day Hellen FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RAPE HURTS FOUNDATION (RHF) GBV Tracy Kirkman Anan Manzan Anodjo Penda Sarr Kristen Ostling Christopher Vvubya Alyse Nelson Anna Rathmann Andisa Liba Vital Voices Global Partnership Mama Cash Global Fund for Women

Farmer Gani Yorou had knowledge and ambition, but was held back by one thing. Her small village in Benin lacked electricity, limiting her productivity. Since gaining access to solar panels on her farm, she has increased yields and become more climate resilient. Happy harvest to you, Gani! ?? #climateresilience #foodsecurity #solarenergy #electrification #sdg7
