  • A week ago today, our State Winter Games came to a close at Perfect North Slopes. Our friends and Winter Games Champion Sponsor St. Elizabeth Healthcare played a huge role in the event. In addition to their sponsorship of the Games, St. Elizabeth provided dozens of volunteers who helped run the Snowshoeing venue, which served a full third of the athletes competing at the Games, and who helped present awards on Tuesday afternoon. Thank you, St. Elizabeth Health and SOKY Board Member Cary Graham for your amazing support of our athletes and the Winter Games!

  • We were honored to be invited to take part in last night’s dinner and presentation at the annual Kona Ice Konvention in Covington. It was exciting to be part of such an incredible event and be around so many great Kona Ice franchisees. Kona Ice has been a tremendous supporter of our athletes for many years, and we were happy to have the opportunity to help show how Kona Ice embraces Special Olympics and people with intellectual disabilities. Thank you, Kona Ice! #BeGoodDoGoodForGood

  • Publix Super Markets has supported Special Olympics programs in states where they operate since 1972, so we're THRILLED to finally be able to welcome them to Kentucky. This week we're excited to participate in our first (but Publix's 32nd) Special Olympics Torch Icon Campaign. Between now and Jan. 19 at their Louisville store you can purchase a Special Olympics Torch Icon to support our athletes AND receive $25 in coupons for great Procter & Gamble products. Plus you can pick up all the things Publix has become famous for but we Kentuckians could only get on vacation! Thank you, Publix, for your incredible support of Special Olympics and we look forward to welcoming more stores very soon.

  • Last week we got together with our friends from Toyota Motor Corporation in Georgetown at our annual ToyotAbility Unified event. This year our athletes teamed up with Toyota team members for Unified bowling. The event is part of Toyota’s Year-Round Partnership. The ToyotAbility crew does so much to support our athletes, including regularly being the Top Fundraising Team at our Lexington Truck Pull. Also, thank you to Board member Jason Rainwater for joining us.

  • On Monday we had the pleasure of visiting our friends and Summer Games sponsors Tony Bryant and the crew at the Richmond Walmart. Through a regional Walmart grant program, the Richmond store was able to secure a $20,000 grant to support our athletes in the coming year. Thank you, Tony, and everyone at Walmart for all you do to help provide great opportunities for our athletes!

  • Had an incredible day with our friends and State Summer Games sponsor Kona Ice at Kona's Kompany HQ where they held their second Unified Cornhole tournament this year. Kona team members partnered with our athletes for a lively competition plus lunch, Travelin' Tom's Coffee, Kona Ice and Beverly Ann's cookies. Our Champions were Daniel and Robby. Robby is BOTH a Special Olympics athlete AND a longtime Kona team member. Thank you, Kona Ice for your support and for the connection you have made with our athletes!
