We’re excited to announce the first event in our new Building Belonging LinkedIn Live series. We’ll be talking to leaders across different sectors about belonging, the power of community, and how they’re finding ways to engage in actionable hope in these uncertain times. First up: Chris Melody Fields Figueredo–a leader, advocate, and strategist. She is the Executive Director of the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center, where she focuses on innovative and collaborative progressive ballot strategies, strengthening and cultivating new partnerships, and supporting current and future movement leaders. Join us Wednesday, April 2nd at noon ET/9 am PT as we discuss community-building and how to stay engaged, even when times are challenging. Mark your calendars and tag a friend to join you! #WomensHistoryMonth #SojournSpeaks #SojournForHer #LinkedInLive #BlackWomenLead #WomensHistoryMonth

Meet Molly. As Managing Director of Sojourn Strategies, Molly Phillips-Nugent oversees client programs, manages relationships, and conducts policy analysis across our service areas. With a background in crisis response, gender equity advocacy, and political organizing, she’s spent nearly a decade fighting for change—from launching Sacramento County’s first Commission on the Status of Women and Girls to working as an organizer for presidential campaigns. In 2022, she completed her master’s degree at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, where she studied statistical analysis and economics to advance progressive policy at the local and national levels. Molly primarily manages our philanthropic advising work, advising movement-driven grantmaking programs and connecting key leaders to funding across the country. Outside of work, Molly loves to read fiction, dance, and hang out with her dog, Strawberry! #MeetTheTeam #StaffSpotlight #TeamHighlight #SojournStrategies #SojournSpeaks

Once upon a time, women were told to stay quiet, stay home, and stay out of power. They didn’t. From the suffragists fighting for the right to vote to the Combahee River Collective demanding intersectional justice, women have led the charge for change. They got us the 19th Amendment. They got us Title IX. They got us Roe (then had to fight for it again). They got us workplace protections, political seats, and movements like #MeToo. We did it then, we can do it again. #WomensHistoryMonth #SojournSpeaks Image Source: Library of Congress and The New York Times

What do you know about LaTosha Brown? Did you know she co-founded Black Voters Matter, an organization combatting voter suppression? Did you know her grandparents couldn’t vote for most of their lives because of racist disenfranchisement laws and policies? Did you know she’s a jazz singer using music as a tool for resistance and empowerment? Her work reminds us that the fight for justice isn’t just political—it’s personal, it’s cultural, and it’s far from over. #BlackLivesMatter #HerStoryMatters #BlackVotersMatter #BVM #SojournForHer #SojournSpeaks #WomensHistoryMonth
