Happy World Soil Day! This year’s theme “Caring for Soils - Measure, monitor, manage” highlights the challenges of collecting and using soil data. These include low awareness of the importance of soil data, gaps in coverage, high costs, data silos, inconsistent methods and misaligned research strategies. At Our Sci, we have prioritized two of these challenges: ?High costs: We have developed SoilStack, an open-source platform to automate generation of stratified soil sampling plans to reduce costs. ?Data Silo’s: Together with OpenTEAM, the OATS Center at Purdue University, and AgGateway we have been working with the USDA to create modern, flexible and public data standards to lower the barriers of moving soil data from one source to another. #WorldSoilDay2024

We’re excited to release new features to make stratification data more accessible. While SoilStack is built with a robust API for easy integration with MRV platforms, we have found that many soil carbon and soil health projects still use files to manage data.
