SOFWERX, in collaboration with USSOCOM PEO-Maritime (PEO-M) Undersea, will host an assessment event to explore industry’s interest and ability to design, develop and support a multiple surface maintenance and support trolley for the Dry Combat Submersible (DCS) program. - Background/Synopsis As a part of the DCS support equipment, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) developed and delivered a maintenance trolley that is suitable for use in a flat, level factory floor environment. Due to the range of operational locations anticipated for the DCS, PEO-M Undersea and the Integrated Maintenance Depot Section (IMDS) team at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek (JEBLC), are seeking a design that will provide similar maintenance and support capabilities but will be able to operate in an environment of rough surfaces that may be expected in deployment areas. - Objective PEO-M Undersea, in conjunction with other Government stakeholders, is seeking a multiple terrain maintenance and support trolley for the DCS program. This effort will require design, development, manufacture, documentation, training, and support of the trolley. The ability to increase awareness of adversarial capabilities from an EW perspective and prevent U.S. forces from being targeted is of utmost importance. The Foundational Research for Electronic Warfare in Multi-Domain Operations (FREEDOM) program at the Army Research Lab, in partnership with USSOCOM, aims to improve the ability to sense and communicate in the multispectral space to support Multi-Domain Operations. These requirements are increasingly challenging due to the expansion of the contested RF spectrum and the new sensors virtually occupying the RF space. One of the most persistent challenges in the Department of Defense is the advent, or availability of a scalable and sustainable data structure and schema. The use of scalable knowledge graphs for certain disciplines and domains will deliver an unprecedented foundation to apply machine learning and eventually artificial intelligence to the EW problem set. - Technology Focus Areas 1. #OTD in 1993, Task Force Ranger was sent to Mogadishu, Somalia to capture a warlord. During the mission in the capital, two MH-60 Blackhawks were shot down, which began a harrowing rescue mission. Master Sgt. Gary Gordon and Sgt. 1st Class Randall Shughart were posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions in trying to save a downed helicopter crew.
