That’s a wrap on the ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit 2025! It was an energizing few days as Sofar Ocean's Tosca Lichtenheld joined partners from the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering and the National Energy Technology Laboratory to highlight our collaboration under the Sensing Exports of Anthropogenic Carbon through Ocean Observation (SEA-CO?) program. Together, we're developing a marine carbon sensing platform—intergrating distributed fiber optic sensing with our Bristlemouth-enabled Spotter Platform to advance scalable, real-time ocean monitoring. We had a fantastic time connecting with other Bristlemouth developers, meeting SEA-CO? program managers, and seeing the impact of real-time ocean data on marine energy initiatives. #SofarOcean #Bristlemouth #ARPAE25

Sofar is partnering with MITRE and NVIDIA to power the future of ocean AI! ?? At NVIDIA GTC #GTC25, MITRE announced our joint effort to build an AI-powered ocean digital twin fueled by real-time data from our global Spotter network. Researchers, government, and industry will use the digital twin to simulate and better understand the marine environments they operate in. As AI supercharges weather prediction, even the most advanced models will need more ocean data to be effective. Sofar provides these essential observations at scale. To power the digital twin, we’ll deliver data from our global network of real-time ocean sensors and collaborate with MITRE to rapidly expand adoption of the Bristlemouth open connectivity standard. Live data will feed into the NVIDIA Omniverse and open up new pathways for AI-powered ocean understanding. Stay tuned for updates on this joint effort and the future of ocean AI! ?? Special thanks to our collaborators Nicholas Rotker, Alex Philp, Ph.D., Conor Lewellyn, PhD, PE, and Robert Ballard. #SofarOcean

We are excited to partner with MITRE to accelerate the development of Bristlemouth, the open connectivity standard delivering plug-and-play hardware interfaces for marine technologies ?? MITRE will fully enable its BlueTech Lab with Bristlemouth, creating the world’s first Bristlemouth center of excellence. This will rapidly expand adoption of the standard and provide a testbed for Bristlemouth developers to build innovative marine technology solutions. “To accelerate ocean and maritime technology, we need to eliminate needless burdens and barriers,” said Nicholas Rotker, MITRE’s Chief BlueTech Strategist. “A connectivity standard for ocean technology will enable new entrants to reduce the time it takes to get innovative hardware from the lab bench to the ocean.” Read our joint press release with MITRE: https://bit.ly/4iqSLwW #SofarOcean #Bristlemouth

Join Sofar on Wed. 3/26 at 3pm CET for a webinar exploring how our Spotter Platform integrates with Aanderaa - a Xylem brand's Doppler Current Sensor (DCS) to simplify subsurface current measurement. During the session, Sofar's Dan Breyre (Product Lead) and Aanderaa's Anders Tengberg (Product Manager & Scientific Advisor) will detail: ?How Spotter integrates seamlessly with DCS to make highly accurate real-time observations of subsurface current speed and direction at a fraction of the cost and complexity of an ADCP. ?How marine professionals deploy Spotter with DCS to collect subsurface current data across diverse ocean environments and power safer and more efficient decisions at sea. Can't make it? Register anyway and we'll send you the recording after the session. ?? ?? Register: https://lnkd.in/gUq5Nk2g #SofarOcean

ICYMI: Dorian LPG cut emissions by an average of 77.5 MT of CO2 per voyage using Wayfinder voyage optimization. ?? That’s the equivalent of removing 18 gas-powered passenger vehicles from the road for a year for every voyage sailed! “Dorian LPG’s results demonstrate how Sofar's real-time marine weather intelligence improves operational efficiency and sustainability,” said Tim Janssen, co-founder and CEO of Sofar Ocean. “Wayfinder’s dynamic voyage optimization significantly reduces fuel consumption and emissions, while improving overall fleet performance. We are proud to support Dorian LPG’s decarbonization efforts and look forward to our continued partnership.” Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/gicVRTmP #SofarOcean
