    I was truly honored to be a part of this year's commencement ceremony at The Forman School, a distinguished private boarding school in Litchfield, Connecticut, known for its exceptional support for students with learning differences. ? Reflecting on my own graduation, Class of 1988, I am reminded of the time when I served as the class president. Thirty years later, it was a privilege to return and deliver the commencement speech.?I was delighted to hear that it was received with even higher ratings than Tom Brady’s commencement speech! ? Thank you, Forman School, for this remarkable opportunity. It is a testament to the incredible work you do and the lifelong impact you have on your students.

    Our research team has dug up some spook-tacular stats just in time for Halloween! Did you know that U.S. consumers will spend over $11 billion on Halloween this year? The best data on Halloween spending comes each year from the National Retail Federation, which surveys Americans about their shopping plans just before the holiday. It found that U.S. consumers will spend over $11 billion this year. This is expected to be 5% lower than 2023’s record level of $12.2bn. Despite the potentially softer 2024 numbers compared to 2023, Halloween spending has grown meaningfully over the last 2 decades. What has driven Halloween spending higher over time? Some of the growth is due to inflation, which has increased prices by about 65% over the past two decades. Some of the growth is due to more people living in the U.S. In 2005, the U.S. had about 290 million people, while today the figure is closing in on 340 million. Lastly, US families have developed a sweet tooth. The average family in the US now spends $164 per year on candy vs $88 back in 2013. The dental industry appreciates this trend. According to Instacart, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are once again the top choice for the most popular Halloween candy in an overwhelming majority of states.     When a company takes care of their team members, can you imagine the lengths they will go for their clients? In 6 months with Socium Advisors, I have experienced a lot of great things: - An amazing Open House which included our team from across the U.S. and many of our clients - A well received Step Challenge - A company retreat to Big Cedar Lodge which included ziplining for the first time - A Womens Client Luncheon complete with personalized flower bouquets - An awesome Farm Party/Fall Festival with team members, family, and clients - Two bosses who gifted me a night out with my husband because he was out of town on our anniversary - A day of pampering - Bosses who care and notice when you’re not feeling well - Compliments and kudos for my work, email correspondence, etc. - The opportunity to bring ideas to the table and to be part of new processes and procedures These are just a few things, and it’s a lot! Again, this is all in 6 months! When you’re a team member of a firm like this, you want to stay and grow with them.
