Society of Petroleum Engineers - UT Austin Chapter

This past week, we had the privilege of leading a group of undergraduate underclassmen from UT Austin on a trip to Midland for hands-on experience in the field of petroleum engineering. This trip was made possible thanks to Diamondback Energy. During our time there, we explored several different operations within petroleum engineering. At the various on-site locations such as a drilling rig, hydraulic fracturing site, and production facility, students were able to get a glimpse into the day-to-day workings of the industry. In addition, we had the opportunity to conduct a shop tour with Baker Hughes where students learned about a wide range of drilling equipment. We are thankful to Ferris Mahaini and Joanna Hord at Diamondback Energy for their support in facilitating our visits and hosting the insightful shop tour with Baker Hughes. We appreciate the opportunity this gives to our younger students to gain insight into what the industry entails.
