关于我们

Society of Artistic Veterans (SocArtVets) is a non-profit organization [501(c)3 pending] based in New York City and is co-founded by military veterans Neath Williams and Tyler La Marr. SocArtVets was created in 2012 and is a membership organization with over 275 military veterans throughout the United States with backgrounds that include film, television, theater, dance, visual arts and writing. MISSION Society of Artistic Veterans’ mission is to provide education and opportunities for military veterans who are pursuing careers in the arts. SocArtVets strives to achieve our mission by creating and producing content that provides military veterans the opportunity to work in a professional artistic environment. We help produce veteran made content from within our organization as well as through partnership with other Veteran Service Organizations. We also partner with the civilian arts community on military themed content in order to provide authenticity to specific projects that require it. We seek to inform audiences about the creative abilities, talents, and invaluable work ethic that veterans have to offer as they seek to transition into the arts. Veterans interested in joining our group, submit requests via Facebook at this time: https://www.facebook.com/groups/152623374900350/

It has been awhile since I've posted to the group here on LinkedIn. One of my 2024 goals is to be more engaged on social media (I took a yearslong break). On that note, I'd like to pose a question to the group: What artistic endeavors are you currently engaged in or planning to do in the near future? I'll start. Right now I am involved in an acting troupe that is working on William Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" and rehearsing for a performance in March. I'm to play the part of Lucius and a few additional ensemble/bit parts. There's something very intimidating about stage acting, especially when it comes to Shakespeare...one whose work people tend to have very strong opinions about. But for me there is no greater advocate of appreciating the human condition and all of its colors. As an added bonus, I get to work with mostly veteran fellow-actors.
