With roots dating back to 1889, the Society of Actuaries (SOA) is the world’s largest actuarial professional organization with more than 32,000 actuaries as members. Through research and education, the SOA’s mission is to advance actuarial knowledge and to enhance the ability of actuaries to provide expert advice and relevant solutions for financial, business and societal challenges. The SOA’s vision is for actuaries to be the leading professionals in the measurement and management of risk. Our vision is to be the leading provider of globally recognized credentials establishing actuaries as business leaders who measure and manage risk to support financial security for individuals, organizations, and the public. The SOA develops data-driven research that helps actuaries be valuable advisors on the most pressing issues facing society. While the SOA does not advocate for or against legislation, the SOA's research, analysis and unique actuarial insight are valued by employers, policy makers and influencers. The SOA delivers comprehensive educational programs and administers rigorous professional examinations. The SOA offers three prestigious credentials - Fellow, Associate and Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst.
