The Society for Acupuncture Research is a professional association whose members are Asian medicine researchers, practitioners, teachers, students, patients and supporters. Our mission is to promote, advance and disseminate scientific inquiry into Oriental medicine systems, which include acupuncture, herbal therapy and other modalities. We value quantitative and qualitative research addressing clinical efficacy, physiological mechanisms, patterns of use and theoretical foundations.

Women with breast cancer often experience debilitating hot flashes that negatively interfere with sleep. I spent 3.5 years as a junior faculty writing this NIH K award to show that acupuncture leads to better & more sustained benefits than gabapentin. How can we make insurance cover acupuncture so women can have the best option for their menopausal symptoms?

General topic categories may include acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Tuina, TCM, and whole system approaches.?Priority will be given to topics that relate to the 2025 conference theme:?? Acupuncture is effective for managing pain in cancer survivors. Unless we have more systemic insurance coverage, we can’t provide equitable pain relief that is safe & effective. Who are with me to advocate for better insurance coverage for acupuncture for management of pain.
