    Funding and the way it flows impacts all of our tactics in politics/nonprofits. I've been thinking a lot about the structure and it's negative impact on creators, especially the ones we work with Social Currant. I've been really worried about losing our people - our creators that we brought into the space as we all figure out how to operate in this new normal. It's not easy, but within our work we've been trying to: ?? Find space for creators to grow, learn and engage with each other ?? Engage clients to go from one-off collaborations with a lot of creators to more recurring collaborations with a smaller subset of folks to give more consistency ???? Work with organizations to build more direct ways of funding creators vs transactional work. It's not easy & we will lose some people but I think now is the time to be creative about how we're all supporting our creator networks - folks that we engaged with last year. Grateful to have had a convo with Josh Klemons on his podcast about this and all things creators.

    EXCITING NEWS: Our 2024 Impact Report is out today! We’ve worked so hard this last year and through all that work, we wanted to share some important takeaways and learnings as we look forward to this next year of creator work. A little sneak peek at what we shared: ?While a lot of our work was aligned with the election and ongoing political issues, 82% of all creators we worked with were non-political creators! And those creators, specifically lifestyle, had high engagement rates. This just proves that we don’t have to only invest in political creators to get the message out. Sometimes different niches and styles can allow for better reach. ?Working with creators is more like organizing than marketing. 63% of organizations increased their budgets with only a month left in the election! While that might work for more traditional approaches like ads, for creator work time and relationship building is crucial for your program to succeed. If not, you face problems like oversaturation, making it harder for your message to be received by audiences. ?Embracing the unknown is the best thing we can do moving forward! With the unknown status of the impending TikTok ban, it might be time to invest in other forms of content like long form Youtube videos and Substack integrations. For organizations and funders, this also means opening up to new ways to communicate your messaging. If this last year has taught us anything, it’s that creator work can heavily influence our communities. Creators are eager to work with organizations they align with and there is no better time to invest in these creators than now.
