It was a pleasure to speak with USA TODAY about the importance of protecting historic Black cemeteries across America. Many of these burial grounds?and sites of sacred history?have experienced decades of disinvestment, abandonment,?and threats from climate change. Preserving them?is critical to ensuring the contributions and dignity of Black communities are preserved for future generations. In doing so, we can help to repair past injustices and shape a more equitable future for our nation. ?
