We're making progress toward #SalmonRecovery in #PugetSound! Even in a densely developed area, we can - and are - restoring estuary habitat that is critical to salmon recovery. The Salmon Recovery Council recently visited the Meadowdale Beach Park and Estuary Restoration site - a great example of removing salmon barriers to access good spawning habitat while also moving people from north to south. Salmon are resilient! The good news is that salmon started accessing the restoration site as the 2021-23 project finished. We just need to stop getting in their way. Core funding to replace the salmon-blocking culvert with a bridge from Snohomish County, WA was supplemented by the Federal Rail Administration and a whole swarm of state funding - Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration, Salmon Recovery Funding Board, Estuary Salmon and Restoration Program, and more! The patchwork reflects the multiple benefits these projects provide - $4 in public benefit for every $1 spent. Thanks to Jason Mulvihill-Kuntz and Rob Marchand for your leadership! Local experts know what's needed for salmon recovery - they just need financial resources and political support to do good work. During our visit, there were so many people using the site - families pushing kids in strollers, hikers, and dog walkers were all enjoying the rugged trail and beach access.

In honor of Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Month, Snohomish County CASA is dedicated to supporting children and families affected by mental health challenges and substance use disorders. As noted in Dave Somers’ proclamation of Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Month, we recognize the importance of providing resources and creating a supportive environment for those in recovery. CASA advocates work tirelessly to connect children with essential services, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive. Together, we can break the stigma, promote healing, and ensure everyone in our community can access the care and resources they deserve.? #BreakTheStigma #ChildAdvocates #MentalHealth #AddictionRecovery #VolunteerOpportunities #SnohomishCASA #SnohomishCounty #CASA?

Now that the railbanking has been completed, Snohomish County is set to begin working on the last 12 miles of the Centennial Trail in early 2025. The Centennial Trail South extension will complete a critical missing link in Snohomish County's regional trail system, connecting the Centennial Trail from the Skagit County line to the King County line, providing 42 miles of separated, shared-use trail. The trail will continue into King County as the Eastrail, continuing an additional 30 miles through the communities on the east side of Lake Washington and connecting to over 175 miles of a more extensive regional trail network. The future Centennial Trail South will accommodate both pedestrian and bicycle usage. To learn more about the project, please visit: https://lnkd.in/g5jTx8jh
