FAREWELL: THANK YOU FOR 15 YEARS
Dear friends and followers,
15 years ago, a spark of inspiration brought us Snap! Orlando, a passion project kindled by energy, love, and creativity — and we are immensely proud of our commitment to this endeavor.
In our time together, we repurposed abandoned warehouses into galleries, and projected building-sized 3D creations. Wakeboarders painted with light and paraglided with Red Bull. A historic movie theater in the Mills 50 District called to us, accented by a now absent mural that lives beyond the building it was first painted on. We became a hub for artist dinners, talks, tours, and we collaborated with numerous arts organizations and museums. When we found our way to Church Street, works created by local, regional, and international artists continued to find a place on our walls. And beyond the confines of a gallery, we’ve had moving, city-wide exhibitions, including through augmented reality art found in our City Unseen app.
But what propelled us the most is the community we’ve built — you are the reason we do what we do. Truly, your presence, friendships, energy, and support have sustained us. You are the force that’s kept us going.
As we enter this 15th year, our mission to platform art and bring people together was at the core. With that being said, we’ve accomplished all we set out to do. Our journey feels complete. We will close with our final exhibit, ‘Earth’s Last Picture,’ a collection of works by Dan L Hess in early 2025.
It’s been a difficult decision, one that was planned but came sooner than anticipated, and it would be remiss not to mention our Founder and Executive Director, Patrick Kahn. For decades, including during Snap! Orlando’s existence, he’s been quietly fighting cancer. Yet, no matter what, he’s worked tirelessly to make every event happen, fueled by his deep desire to foster the arts community in Orlando and beyond. Truly, he is the heart of Snap! Orlando, and it now feels like the right time to close this chapter.
From the bottom of our hearts: Thank you all for being such an inspiration to us. It has been our greatest pleasure working, creating, and growing with all of you.
