When sizing your electric service for an ADU, key factors include: ?? The main service panel (MSP). This houses the meter bubble and accepts the SDGE service. ?? Service size (100A, 200A, or 400A). This is the amperage being brought to the MSP by SDGE. ?? Service conduit (2" or 3"). This connects the MSP to the SDGE transformer. You may need to upgrade your service panel, especially when going from 100A to 200A or from 200A to 400A, which often means increasing the conduit size. This process can get confusing fast, but don’t worry — we’ve got your back!
