I had a blast today, meeting students and introducing them to this powerful shipbuilding tool! So much energy and enthusiasm to learn in one room ?? Returning to my roots in the shipbuilding industry today was a truly rewarding experience. This industry is a close-knit community where everyone knows one another, and I’m grateful to always be welcomed back to MI with open arms. As an industry professional now, it was so special to get back in there and offer guidance to the next generation of shipbuilders and designers! ?? I'm super grateful to SNAME, SNAME Canadian Atlantic Section, and SSI (ShipConstructor & ShipbuildingPLM) for giving me this opportunity, and of course to my incredible alma mater, the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Kristopher Drodge for helping to make this happen! #SNAME #snamecas #shipbuilding #shipdesign #futureleaders #futureshipbuilders
Today, we had the privilege of hosting a fantastic Lunch & Learn session at the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland, featuring Danielle Rankin (Pinksen), the YP representative (NL) from SNAME CAS and Training Coordinator with SSI (ShipConstructor & ShipbuildingPLM)! ??? Her session, ShipConstructor 101, introduced both students and industry professionals to ShipConstructor – a powerful, globally-used shipbuilding software, and a tool that designers will likely encounter throughout their careers in the maritime industry. The session was incredibly valuable, with live demonstrations showcasing ShipConstructor’s 3D design capabilities and its seamless integration with other tools like Navisworks. It was a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on exposure to software they'll use in their future roles. A big thank you to Danielle for an engaging and informative session! ?? Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis, entitled "Performance Parameter Recognition and Damage Prevention in Marine Shafting Systems Utilizing Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence Algorithms”. ?? The thesis was supervised by Professor Christos Papadopoulos The examination committee also included Prof. Lambros Kaiktsis and Associate Professor George Papalambrou (members of the Advisory Committee), Professor Gregory Grigoropoulos, Assoc.
