Have you been wondering what value a membership brings you? Look no further than the SNAME Mentoring Program. Application deadline is February 28th.
Seeking Entry-Level Merchant Marine Position to Leverage Engineering Background in Seagoing Role | Naval Architect & Marine Engineer
We would like to invite you to apply for the SNAME Mentoring Program pilot in 2025! Mentees in this program can be students, young professionals, or professionals within SNAME. Maybe you are a student that would like some guidance from a recent graduate, a young professional trying to navigate the early stages of your career, maybe you are looking to get your PE license and don’t know where to start, or maybe you’re an experienced maritime professional looking to make a career pivot. Whatever career challenge you are facing, this mentoring program can help guide you through it! Mentors and mentees will meet several times per month to discuss how the mentee can best achieve their goals and work through the obstacles that they face along the way. There will also be check-ins throughout the year to ensure that the pairs are meeting, and that ensure that they are a fit for one another. If you are interested in participating as a mentee, please fill out a short application to explain your interest in the program (https://lnkd.in/gGdxMhck). The due date for applications is February 28, 2025. The program will run from March 12 through November 15, 2025. Please note that this is a pilot program in 2025, so we will only be accepting 5-10 participants as mentees. Please reach out to Jack Bonoli ([email protected]) and/or Susan Noste ([email protected]) if you are interested in being a mentor in the program, or if you have any questions!

We are pleased to announce that Eric Helder will be the next Section Chair for the Great Lakes Great Rivers after receiving the most votes at the Fall Meeting. He most recently held the position of Vice Chair and Papers Chair. Eric is intertwined with the Lakes, having spent his professional career interning for both Bay Engineering, Inc. (BEI) and Interlake Maritime Services before signing on full time after graduating with his Masters from the UM Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering program. At Interlake, he manages a portfolio of concept and capital projects including new builds, retrofits, and technical input for decarbonization efforts. Eric grew up in Michigan and now spends most of his time in Cleveland where he enjoys anything nautical and restoration projects, including his century home. With that, we thank Travis Martin, PE, PMP for his years of hard work and dedication to the section.
