SMRT Chairman Mr. Seah Moon Ming and Group CEO Mr. Ngien Hoon Ping conducted a Gemba walk on the Bukit Panjang LRT (BPLRT) today, engaging staff and supporting their work. Since 2018, the #BPLRT has been undergoing system renewal, with upgrades targeted for completion by end-2026. Meanwhile, our SMRT Trains team is working closely with Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore and Alstom to manage this complex transition while keeping services running. A key challenge is operating both retrofitted and new #NCXtrains, which are facing initial teething issues. We’re aiming to phase out old ECX trains by Sept 2025 and implement system enhancements. ??#SMRT had the honour of hosting Mr Andy Chiu Chen-yuan, Acting Mayor of Hsinchu, Taiwan, and his delegation during their recent visit to Singapore! This visit was an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences about smart cities, transportation infrastructure, and urban development, as Hsinchu is gearing up for the launch of its light rail system in the near future. ???? ? The delegation, comprising key leaders from Hsinchu's government, was warmly welcomed by Group Chief Commuter Engagement & Service Excellence Officer and Senior Vice President, Rail Operations, Mr Alvin Kek, as well as Group Chief Business Development Officer, Mr Eng Kiat Goh, at Kim Chuan Depot. ?? Our ??Thomson-East Coast Line colleagues have been awarded the Singapore Civil Defence Force Community First Responder Award (CFRA) for their lifesaving actions and teamwork during a medical emergency. When a commuter was reported unconscious on the train, the team, together with a Transit Security Officer (TSO), responded swiftly—moving the commuter to safety, activating paramedics, and providing care in the station’s WeCare room. #ArtInTransit meets sustainability at Stevens station (TE11)! This latest community art installation, created by student artists from Singapore Chinese Girls' School in collaboration with Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore, spotlights the relationship between nature and humanity amid urban development. At the launch event, we welcomed Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Culture, Community & Youth and Trade & Industry, Adviser to Tanjong Pagar GRC (Moulmein Cairnhill).
