Keefer is a Gallup-trained and certified StrengthsFinder Coach.?She developed and currently serves as the Director of Furman's Shucker Center for Leadership Development within the Division of Student Life.?Group building, leadership development, and helping individuals and teams discover and best utilize their strengths and talents are Keefer's areas of expertise.?She currently facilitates StrengthsFinder workshops and team-building programs for adult and college-aged student groups and organizations.?In addition, she has supported the Greenville community through past participation in Leadership Greenville and has served on the Leadership Team for the Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Greenville Program.?Keefer also holds a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication and a Master's in Education from the University of South Carolina. Say hello to our SMPS Palmetto Chapter Greenville Leadership Women's Roundtable speaker, Laura Beth Medley, Vice President, Chief Human Resources, and Corporate Communications Officer at the Canal Insurance Company! Medley has been with Canal Insurance since 2007. She joined the company as a benefits specialist and continued to rise during her 18 years. She joined the Canal senior leadership team in 2015 when she was named the company’s Vice President of Human Resources. Her role expanded to include Corporate Communications. As part of her responsibilities managing Canal’s employee benefits package, she has championed an employee wellness program that includes a staffed on-site preventative care clinic, nutritionist counseling, and a state-of-the-art exercise facility. Called Full Sail, the facility is designed to help keep the company’s 230 employees healthy and productive. We hope to see you in Greenville next week! Since starting with GADC in 2005 Tavia has been involved in creating an announced 12,851 new jobs and over $1.5 billion dollars of new capital investment into Greenville. She is also responsible for marketing, recruiting, and working with business prospects, both new and expanding, considering Greenville County. In addition, she has assisted in the expansions and recruitment on behalf of Greenville County with recognizable names such as Samsung, Bausch & Lomb, AVX, Lima One Capital, T&S Brass, Fitesa, Proterra, United Community Bank, Esurance, Nissin and most recently Isuzu. Say hello to our SMPS Palmetto Chapter Charleston Leadership Women's Roundtable speaker, Adrianne Grimes, M.S., Director of Marketing and Communications at the SCRA: South Carolina Research Authority! Grimes has spent 30+ years in different PR, marketing, and corporate communications roles. She opened and ran her PR firm, R.M. Grimes Marketing and Communications in the early 2000s. During this time, she also led communications for several political campaigns, including one U.S. presidential state primary, two congressional, and several at the state and local levels. However, she has also been a two-time guest on the national Public Relations Review Podcast and featured in the national PRSA Strategist magazine. Prior to her current position, Grimes worked in a similar role at the South Carolina Telehealth Alliance, based at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she founded Telehealth Awareness Week, a statewide campaign promoting the benefits of telemedicine and telehealth. The American Telemedicine Association eventually adopted this campaign, which is now an annual, national campaign. Her work promoting telehealth and telemedicine garnered best-in-class awards from the Carolina Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society in 2018 and 2019. However, Grimes also serves her community in many ways. She is a former Vice President of Professional Development with the South Carolina Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Charleston YWCA and the Dorchester Two School District Education Foundation. In addition, she is also a member of the Greater Charleston Top Ladies of Distinction service organization. Grimes also earned a master’s degree from The Citadel Graduate College and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina. Megan Anderson, Vice President of Economic Development at the Charleston Regional Development Alliance (CRDA)! What does she do? Anderson focuses on the strategic execution of CRDA’s core economic development programs, which includes building a global business brand, recruiting foreign direct investment, attracting high-demand talent, and implementing the broader regional economic development strategy. Anderson came to CRDA as Director, Global Business Development from Maxis Advisors, a site selection and incentive negotiation firm based in Charlotte, NC. At Maxis, she worked to further the firm’s presence in the site selection sector while managing existing client relationships in the negotiated incentives practice. This role also allowed her the opportunity to work throughout the U.S., enhancing her knowledge of other states’ and communities’ business environments and competitiveness. However, prior to joining Maxis Advisors, Anderson was a Senior Project Manager in Global Business for the South Carolina Department of Commerce. Her duties included business recruitment and the management of complex economic development projects. While she has worked with companies across all manufacturing and service-related industries, she also has developed expertise in the aerospace/aviation sector as well as headquarters, IT, and service sector projects. Anderson also brings extensive knowledge of working with international companies and conducting business internationally. Her six years in this position led to over $1.8 billion in direct investment and roughly 11,000 new jobs in South Carolina. Anderson also received an M.B.A. with a concentration in International Business from the University of South Carolina. In addition, Anderson also holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a specialization in International Business from the University of South Carolina. A South Carolina native, she grew up in the very small upstate town of Six Mile. She and her husband have two boys.
