Great success story from Every Cure about the potential of leveraging data and technological innovations to find new and beneficial solutions for people with rare conditions and beyond. #raredisease #AIinHealthcare
Physician-Scientist @ UPenn | National Bestselling Author, Chasing My Cure | Co-Founder @ Every Cure & CDCN
Thrilled to share that our work has just been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, highlighting a life saved with a repurposed drug, adalimumab. Through proteomics and cellular assays in my lab at the University of Pennsylvania, we identified TNF signaling as a key driver of Castleman disease. Concurrently, Every Cure’s AI platform independently predicted that a TNF inhibitor could be a top treatment. When a patient was on the verge of being transferred to hospice, we recommended administering adalimumab—and it saved his life. Two years later, he remains in remission, thriving on a drug that was never originally intended for his condition. This publication is more than just a case study—it’s proof of the power of combining laboratory research with AI-driven insights to uncover hidden cures. The potential of repurposing existing drugs is enormous, and we’re just getting started. The 21st Annual WORLDSymposium is in the books for #TeamSmithSolve! For the last 10 years, we’ve enjoyed connecting with the many stakeholders driving progress and demonstrating the power of collaboration across the #LysosomalDisease community. This year was no different - we leave San Diego in awe of the progress made and reinvigorated in our commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by these conditions. Douglas Paul, VP of Commercial Strategy & Founder of Cypress BioPharma, and our President & CEO, Chris Smith, led a workshop recently at the 4th Annual Rare & Genetic Kidney Disease Drug & Development Summit in Boston titled, “Commercialization & Communication Through the Clinical Experience in the Rare & Genetic Kidney Disease Space.” ? Doug and Chris outlined steps for understanding?the needs of patient communities, communicating the value of promising treatments, and discussing drug prices in the context of today’s healthcare system. They explored reimbursement trends and surfaced ways to align payers, policy makers, physicians, and industry in a common goal of improving health.? #raredisease #genetherapy #kidneydisease

What’s better than spending time with your people?! The SmithSolve team came together recently to connect, collaborate, and prepare for the exciting year ahead. We also had fun creating a stained-glass version of the True North logo, which represents an internal commitment to our mission and people. Our special guest, Clay, a father and #RareDisease advocate, shared his family’s experience with cystinosis and the urgency with which he works on behalf of his daughter and the community. For us, that serves as a reminder to work with that same pace and determination – these diseases don’t relent, and neither can we. We are incredibly thankful for our time with Clay and every individual, family, care partner, advocate, or others who gave us their time, advice, and expertise this year. We are grateful and humbled to work with such inspiring and resilient people - inside and out! #RareDisease #PatientAdvocacy #TeamBuilding #PFDD
