As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we recognize professional driver, Amy Covey. Amy began her driving career with Smith Transport in 1998, at a time when women in the trucking industry were few and faced significant challenges. Throughout her three+ decades with Smith Transport, Amy has consistently demonstrated professionalism, safety, and hard work. She was the first and remains the only woman in our fleet to achieve membership in our prestigious Million Mile Club. Taking it a step further, she is now the only woman in our fleet to earn the incredible honor of joining the Tommy Smith Golden Eagle Two Million Mile Club—a testament to her skill, perseverance, and commitment. We extend our deepest gratitude to Amy for her outstanding service, her groundbreaking achievements, and her role in inspiring other women in the industry. Fun fact...If Barry Smith sees you at a local restaurant he will pay for your meal and eat with you. Barry is a genuine, kind, thoughtful mentor, and always happy to bless someone. Ervin told us he was starstruck when he saw Barry at our local Burger King and did not want to pass up the opportunity for a photo with our living legend in trucking.

Shout out to Dustin, who knows our equipment better than anyone, and Dan Welker our Driver of the Year! Together they work as a team to educate our new drivers on how the new equipment operates and once in a while they get to see each other in person here at our Roaring Spring terminal.

We celebrated three retirements today; Brian, Jay, and Ed. These three were all hired by Barry Smith and all have decades of incredible service. They will all be missed and we wish them a very long and happy retirement!
