Harken Safety & Rescue were proud to support the UKRO Festival of Rescue, where we supported many of the Technical Rope Rescue events, testing the skills of each team in a competitive arena. Our main event was “The Field Gun Scenario”, a rope rescue take on the Military Field Gun Race, pitting teams against each other to carry equipment and personnel across an obstacle course, featuring chasm and wall crossings. The course included pre-set tensioned lines spanning a water filled basin, rigged from the SMC TerrAdaptor, deployed as an A-frame and Gin-pole either side of the water. The teams were given a walk-through of the course and had 5 minutes to choose their solution, kit and casualty, before the race started! The casualty needed packaging in the litter, carrying to the tensioned lines to clear the handrails and water, along with all kit and team members. Once safely landed, the whole team needed to race to cross the line and stop the clock. This was a sprint rather than a marathon, all teams stepped up to the plate with gusto and spirit, completing the scenario with crowds of onlookers in the most stunning setting by HMS Victory, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales.
