    Thinking of running #holiday ads? You’ll want to keep this in mind ?? ?? CPMs will increase. ?? Competition will increase. ?? Promotions are king. If it aligns with their product or services, brands will use the holiday season to drive sales and promotions around gifting – most notably around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. While this giving period may not be right for every brand, if you decide to take advantage of this time, here are a few strategies to maximize your return: ??When budgets allow, align your increased spend to match each platform’s CPM increase. ??Your competitors will be putting their best foot forward, offering their most attractive deals and promotions during this period. You should consider doing the same. ??Take advantage of retargeting to cut through the noise, and focus on consumers who are already engaged with your brand. As we enter the busy holiday period, keep in mind that social media marketing is most effective when you develop an approach that is tailored to the needs of your business and unique audience.     The popularity of your content on Instagram impacts its video quality. Yes, really. ?? Adam Mosseri recently acknowledged that content on Instagram that receives low levels of engagement will have reduced video quality. Why does this matter? ?? There are concerns around the algorithm prioritizing content from larger creators, as their high level of engagement will likely improve the quality of their videos. To critics, this feature contradicts Instagram’s previously stated efforts to prioritize smaller creators. ?? It’s already challenging to compete for views and engagement on Instagram. As a small brand or creator looking to expand your reach to new audiences, this downgrade in video quality appears to be yet another obstacle to growth. The takeaway? ? While quality is important, multiple factors determine success with the algorithm. Lower video quality alone is unlikely to make a significant impact if your content is compelling. Continue to lean into platform best practices, and don’t give up on vertical video! The more you post, the more you can refine your Reels and effectively engage your audience. ?
