关于我们
We envision an Oregon where every child can read and is empowered to succeed. Since 1992, SMART has been pairing caring, adult volunteers with children in need of reading support and books to take home and keep. SMART volunteers read one-on-one with students weekly during the school year, modeling a love of reading and building children’s reading skills and self-confidence in a positive, child-driven environment.

Amy McCormick-Friesz, SMART's corporate relations development officer, was invited to join our longtime partner First Tech Federal Credit Union at the Portland Business Journal's annual corporate philanthropy awards as they accepted their "Million Dollar Club" award as a company that donates $1million or more annually to local nonprofits including SMART Reading! We are truly grateful for our partnership with First Tech.

Each year, the Children's Book Bank at SMART Reading gives away thousands of books to kids — and we rely on book donations from the community. If you're in the Portland area, one of the best ways you can help ensure kids have access to books at home is by organizing a book drive in your company, organization, or community group!
