One of the things I am most excited about with the changes at SmartPak is that we are getting back into the Veterinarian field. Specifically conferences where we are able to connect one on one with vets and farriers to understand what they need from us. As a part of the NAEP's 2024 Saratoga Equine Practitioners Conference, we raffle off a chance to join us for Breakfast at the Track at the Oklahoma Training Track to the attending veterinarians and farriers. The lucky group of winners were given a tour of the track by Bob of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame where they learned more about the history of this special location, the training and organization of the track, and got insights to the track's daily routines and happenings. Hearing the sound of galloping hooves before the racehorses appeared through the mist was an incredible experience. Thanks to all who joined us for this memorable way to wrap up one of our favorite events of the year!

?? New AAEP Guidelines for Diagnosing Infectious Neurologic Diseases in Horses ?? The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) has issued new Field Diagnostic Guidelines for Infectious Neurologic Disease to assist veterinarians in diagnosing acute neurologic cases in horses. These guidelines emphasize the importance of considering contagious diseases like Equine Herpesvirus-1 or public health concerns such as Rabies and West Nile Virus when assessing sudden-onset neurologic symptoms. The guidelines include a diagnostic flowchart that covers differential diagnosis, sample collection, and test selection. There’s also advice on proper handling and shipping of samples, as well as best practices for post-mortem specimen collection. "These guidelines provide field practitioners with accessible and targeted advice for diagnosing infectious neurologic diseases in North America,” said co-author Dr. Toby L.
