On November 21st, 2024, Local 66 & 16 members attended the ANEW Diversity & Inclusion Summit, focused on "Opportunity Matters"! The event featured inspiring leaders, panels on equitable hiring, mentorship, and cultural change. Local 66's Patti Ramirez-Fox shared her journey on the Women’s Committee Mentoring program panel, doing a fantastic job representing us! We are proud to announce that Julia Warren from Rogers High School as one of the top students to secure direct entry into our prestigious WESTERN WASHINGTON SHEET METAL JATC Program. Julia excelled in our 4-week pre-apprenticeship course, showcasing exceptional dedication, work ethic, and a strong aptitude for mathematics. Originally set on pursuing a college degree in mechanical engineering, Julia found a passion for the sheet metal trade during our program. We believe her talents and drive are a perfect fit for our Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) apprenticeship, where problem-solving and hands-on work take center stage. Julia’s achievement highlights the opportunities available through Career and Technical Education and the power of hands-on learning. We’re excited to see her growth in the sheet metal industry, and we look forward to supporting her along this journey! On October 4th, the Hutchins family faced an unimaginable tragedy when their home was destroyed by a fire, leaving them with only the clothes on their backs.
