I am delighted to have presented on formative assessment alongside my brilliant colleague Muriel Ortiz from Smarter Balanced at the NCME classroom assessment conference. We explored how formative assessment practices drive student growth and help teachers make real-time instructional decisions. Grateful for the opportunity to share insights and collaborate on strategies that enhance learning outcomes!

I finally got my #AI field-testing paper published! Open access! It's the 1st paper that I know of that explores using AI examinees to field-test new test items. I improved the proposed method since the last version of the paper. Thank you Smarter Balanced for the support! Smarter Balanced’s own Muriel Ortiz was recently published in Language Magazine. In her article, Muriel emphasizes the pressing call for equity in education for culturally and linguistically diverse students through an equitable multi-tiered system of supports (eMTSS). She stresses the importance of integrating students' linguistic and cultural strengths into mainstream education and the need to shift away from deficit-minded practices. She believes eMTSS with a HUGG Framework is a valuable means to support academic success by elevating cultural inclusion and linguistic assets. She writes that it is also a critically urgent necessity in education and that this framework cultivates a holistic, inclusive, and equitable learning environment for historically marginalized populations.
