Privacy: Legislation like the American Privacy Rights Act and the EU’s Data Act gives consumers more control over their vehicle data, requiring businesses to rethink how they communicate privacy and data-sharing rights. As Smartcar’s CTO, Steve will lead our engineering and technology strategy, driving innovation in the connected car industry. With a passion for building scalable, secure, and reliable systems, he’s focused on empowering developers to create seamless mobility experiences using Smartcar's platform. Steve brings over 30 years of experience in software development, cloud architecture, and team leadership. He has a proven track record of scaling engineering teams and launching cutting-edge products in fast-paced environments. At Smartcar, Steve will focus on supporting the company's growth, enhancing the reliability of its platform, and striking a balance between feature development and technical excellence. Prior to joining Smartcar, Steve held leadership roles at Guild, DHI, Active Network, eBay, and Accenture, where he was instrumental in driving key technology transformations. He holds a Sc.B in Computer Engineering and Computer Science from Brown University. Outside of work, Steve enjoys raising his three boys (and one exchange student) and spending time outdoors camping, mountain biking, and hiking. We couldn’t be more excited about the future under Steve’s leadership! His vision and passion align perfectly with our mission, and we know he’ll play a pivotal role in taking Smartcar to new heights.
