The National Bridge Preservation Conference(NBPC) was held in Salt Lake City Sept. 9-12. I had the opportunity to?hear from experts?in the preservation field during plenary and multi-track technical sessions and from leaders?of the preservation industry, government, and academia about the need to protect our bridge assets and improve resiliency through preservation. Also had the opportunity?to share technology and experiences, and address?today’s major preservation issues affecting agencies and industry alike. I attended Live Indoor & Outdoor demonstrations?of innovative bridge preservation materials & technologies. Great Conference!

Despite best efforts, unexpected issues can arise on a job site. Smart-Up recently provided an emergency repair in south-central Mississippi for a bridge girder damaged during placement on site. Working closely with the MDOT, precaster, and general contractor, a repair plan including removing damaged concrete from the flange, replacing rebar, attaching shear studs, and pouring UHPC was orchestrated within 14 days of the damage occurring to put construction back on track. ?
