??Meet Sean?? Sean was recently offered a job as a warehouse associate at a local distribution center. “I will be doing a little bit of everything: pulling orders, placing orders, driving a forklift,” he said enthusiastically. With prior experience in this field, Sean is eager to return to the work he enjoys. When asked about his motivation, Sean beamed, saying, “My kids are keeping me going!” He describes himself as outgoing and hardworking, always keen to learn new things and adapt quickly. A mantra he often reflects on is, “Do what I have to do in order to do what I want to do.” We were thrilled to equip Sean with everything he needed to be successful at his new job: pants, T-shirts, steel-toe boots, a winter jacket and gloves, socks and underwear, a care pack, and a 31-day unlimited-ride bus pass. ??Meet Floyd ?? Floyd recently started a job at a local car dealership. "I am doing anything they need help with," he said enthusiastically. Currently, in a sober living program, he is motivated by his desire for a brighter future. "My addiction used to be a big challenge for me, but I am working through that and striving for a better life," he expressed. Floyd has been proudly sober for one and a half years. He is working closely with a housing coordinator to find his own space. He hopes the right opportunity will come along soon. When asked about his method for staying positive, he stated, "I tell myself, 'I CAN do it!' Telling myself that helps to keep me going, and I know I can do anything." To support him in this new chapter, our team outfitted Floyd with everything he needed to start his job successfully: black pants, T-shirts, Bombas socks and underwear, non-slip shoes, a care pack filled with hygiene items, and a 31-day unlimited-ride bus pass. Yesterday, the Small Sums staff joined hundreds of people at Homeless Day on the Hill to advocate for the 2025 agenda at the State Capitol. Together, we appealed directly to lawmakers about the importance of expanding and preserving shelters and resources, and increasing safe, affordable housing across the state. This event, organized by the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless, provided an opportunity for community members to directly influence policy decisions and advocate for systemic changes to address homelessness in Minnesota. #MCHDOTH #mnleg #advocacyinaction #smallsums

On Monday, Small Sums hosted our first Community Day of the year! We were able to help 20 individuals with services such as haircuts, headshots, interview coaching, resume writing and more. We are grateful to everyone who attended, and to those who volunteered at the event! Small Sums’ next community day will be held on Monday, June 9th from 3-7pm. #smallsums #communityday

I had such a blast (as you can clearly tell in the picture) helping and connecting with the 12th graders that were in my group. They are such bright, inspiring, and incredible students. Grateful to have been part of this workshop on behalf of Small Sums and look forward to continuing to support Cristo Rey Jesuit High School - Twin Cities!
