?? **Building Community, One Trunk at a Time: Slumberland’s Halloween Tradition** ?? Two years ago, Kevin Craig, Store Manager at Slumberland Benton Harbor, was inspired by a charity partner to host a *Trunk or Treat* event in their spacious parking lot. What started as a simple idea quickly turned into a community tradition, bringing together families and local businesses for a fun, safe, and festive Halloween celebration. In 2023, despite an early snowstorm, the event went on! Six trunks braved the weather, and 600 trick-or-treaters made their way through the snow to enjoy the festivities. In 2024, the weather cooperated, and the event grew even bigger—13 creatively decorated trunks, including everything from fire trucks to the Slumberland delivery truck, greeted a record 1,362 kids and families. This event isn’t just about candy—it’s about creating memories, building connections, and giving back to the community. What began as a small idea has turned into an annual tradition that brings families together year after year. A huge thank you to the Benton Harbor team for embracing this initiative and creating such a positive impact. Did you see us at the Minnesota State Fair? ? Dedicated team members were out at the Minnesota State Fair, engaging with the fairgoers. They distributed 600 Slumberland bags and, most importantly, shared the inspiring story of the 40 Winks Foundation. We’re so proud that we have gifted over 55,000 new beds to children in need, with the number continuously increasing. We also emphasized that every donation we receive directly funds the purchase of new beds — ensuring that every penny is used to make a tangible difference in a child’s life. Few nonprofits can claim that all their funds are directed entirely toward their mission. ? The support and engagement received from the fairgoers was truly uplifting, and we are grateful for the chance to share our commitment to making a positive impact in our community. Together, we’re not just giving beds; we’re changing lives and creating brighter futures for children everywhere.

With more than 120 stores across 12 Midwest states, Slumberland remains a family-owned company, currently led by Ken’s son, Kenny Larson. It was a special moment for both the Larson family and the extended Slumberland family to witness Ken honored for his accomplishments and to see him receive this award from Kenny. Last week, Slumberland celebrated our employee appreciation week with multiple internal events. One of our team's favorites is the annual Mini Golf Open. The Slumberland HQ teams are able to showcase our vibrant company culture and the creativity of their department! ? Each department created a mini golf course hole based around a sports theme provided at random. They had last Monday-Wednesday to create and build their course to prepare for the game to begin on Thursday. Teams then had the opportunity to go around and view, play, and vote for their favorite course! ? We had a three-way tie with a final putt off that gave us our winner from the IT department, Chris Hughes! Our Merchandise, Buyers, and Store Design team took the award for most creativity with their hockey inspired mini golf course. ? We can't wait to share more of our exciting adventures with you! This past weekend, part of our team was in Hayward, Wisconsin, celebrating the Birkebeiner event. For five decades, the Birkebeiner has been a symbol of endurance, camaraderie, and the indomitable human spirit. As athletes from around the world gather in Hayward, Wisconsin to tackle this legendary cross-country ski race, Slumberland Furniture is honored to play a part in supporting this cherished tradition.
