Saint Louis University School of Science and Engineering is pleased to celebrate the renaming of the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building to the Sinquefield Science and Engineering Center!

On February 22nd, SLU's Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) participated in SciFest: Engineering Expo at the Saint Louis Science Center. This is an exciting event that brings together STEM enthusiasts of all ages. At their booth, BMES members engaged visitors with a fun and educational "Match the Implant" game, where participants were tasked with matching various medical implants to their correct body parts. The event was a wonderful opportunity for the community to explore the world of biomedical engineering, interact with current BME students and industry professionals, and discover the practical applications of STEM in healthcare.

Undergraduate and Graduate students from the AirCRAFT Lab had the incredible opportunity to present their research at the AIAA SciTech Conference in Orlando, FL, this January! ?? 1?? Brady, M.E., and Gururajan, S. presented their work on "Analysis and Simulation of a Vertical Take Off and Landing Aircraft" (AIAA 2025-0454). 2?? Nguyen, J.T., and Gururajan, S. discussed "Using the Artificial Potential Field Method for UAM Trajectory Planning in Urban Environments with Varying Wind Conditions" (AIAA 2025-1810). 3?? Gillen, A., Peralta, Y., and Gururajan, S. explored "Multirotor Aerial Vehicle Tracking and Characterization Through Image Recognition for Counter UAS" (AIAA 2025-2346). ?? SSE Researcher Spotlight ?? @Premila P. Samuel Russell , Assistant Professor of Chemistry, and her team have made a groundbreaking discovery in cellular biology! Their paper, “Enzymes in a Human Cytoplasm Model Organize into Submetabolon Complexes,” was published in the February 2025 issue of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. In collaboration with Dr. Martin Gruebele, Dr. Taras V. Pogorelov, and Dr. Meredith Rickard at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Russell utilized supercomputing power to capture the rapid interactions of glycolytic enzymes in a human cancer cell model. Their work highlights the first atomic-scale model of a human cell segment, offering new insights into cellular processes that traditional experiments couldn’t reveal. ???? This innovative research not only deepens our understanding of cellular energy production but also opens the door to better understanding cancer-related enzyme pathways.
